Thank you to everyone that attended and participated in the 3rd annual Red Deer Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival! The festival was a huge success with an increase of 22% in attendance this year, making it the most popular one so far.
Consumers enjoyed an exceptional collection of wine, port, scotch, beer, coolers and spirits as well as an array of delectable food samples from local Red Deer Restaurants. Participating restaurants included Redstone Grill, Barbero’s at the Capri, Astha Fine Indian Cuisine, La Casa Pergola, Red Deer Lodge, Restaurant 27, Kinjo Sushi, Smugglers Inn and North 40 Steakhouse.
For the second year in a row, consumers voted La Casa Pergola with the Most Sensational Sample; their Ravioli Al Tartufo was the crowd favorite. Red Deer restaurants competed in the Most Sensational Sample Contest, creating mouth watering appetizers, mini-main dishes and desserts. Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival will proudly donate a portion of total ticket sales in Red Deer to the Red Deer College Culinary Arts Program.
We have awarded this year’s door prize: a trip for two to the Banff Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival on May 31, 2008. The prize included one night accommodation at The Fairmont Banff Springs, two Grand Tasting Hall entrance tickets and $100 in sampling coupons!
